Some Thoughts from Our Owner
"I came from a large company that was not run properly. Bottom line: my employer
did not treat its employees or its customers right. When I started DEMAR in 1985
my goal was to take care of our employees and customers. When situations developed,
I have always tried my best to treat others like we would want to be treated. The
fact that so many of my customers and employees have been with us for so long suggests
that this goal is being met. We believe in going not only the last mile, but in
going the extra mile as well. Throughout this website are examples of this extra
effort.
I feel that in today's competitive world a company like ourselves can not look only
at the transportation and warehousing problems of our customers. We also must
look at the total picture. That means looking at the quality of the product the
end user receives. Can we help improve it by looking at the packaging? It means
looking at the cost the end user pays. That has meant passing on actual cost savings
to a major customer three times without being asked over the years of relationship
with this customer.
It also means making ourselves available to our customers. And, we do not just mean
the top executives. It means talking to dock supervisors. And all levels of management
at our clients' businesses every day.
Another essential belief is that technology is key to the good service we provide
our customers. For our size, we doubt many companies have spent more time and effort
developing technology.
What type of customers fit best with our organization? Companies that have a similar
set of values as we do. In other words, they care about taking care of their customers.
Our professional staff makes the extra effort to ensure the customer obtains the
level of service they demand and expect.
Our philosophy has enabled us to keep problem situations to a bare minimum and to
create an environment where our customers, employees, and our vendors are happy
to work with us."
